Music Ministry
The music ministry at St. Albert United Church allows our enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers – singers, ringers and instrumentalists – to actively participate in our shared worship experience. And have fun making music, too!
Choir
The choir leads congregational singing and provides special music during the Sunday morning worship services from September to May. We also enjoy singing at special services on Christmas Eve, Good Friday and Easter Sunday and working with the handbell choirs, percussionists and other musicians throughout the year.
The choir practices Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the church. Everyone is welcome!
If you would like to join our music ministry, as either a singer or instrumentalist, please contact Music Director Margaret Ward-Jack at wardjack@shaw.ca
Handbells
Our two handbell choirs, United in Bronze and Genesis Ringers, play at select worship services throughout the church year, including Christmas Eve. They also play at senior’s centers, worship services at other community churches and community events such as St. Albert’s Snowflake Festival. Dessert and Bells has become an annual springtime event at St. Albert United Church, featuring delicious desserts and an evening of handbell music.
The distinct sound of the handbells enriches the church’s music ministry. St. Albert United Church is very fortunate to have a 4+ octave set of Malmark English Handbells and a 4 octave set of Malmark Handchimes. Many of the bells have been donated, in memoriam, by members of the congregation.
The handbell choirs practice on Monday evenings. If you would like more information about our handbell choirs, please contact Holly Parker at 66parker@telus.net or Lorna Walker at lornawalker001@gmail.com.
